David’s connection to the legal system in Routt County is deep- before becoming a lawyer, he was a carpenter who helped to build the Courthouse. He has appeared in that courthouse as a Deputy District Attorney, a defendant, and a defense attorney. In fact, David first decided to become a lawyer after he represented himself in a speeding ticket case and won the trial in the Steamboat Springs municipal court. This unique perspective has allowed David to counsel clients both strategically, and with a deep understanding of what they are going through.
David’s experience as a trial lawyer and nearly 30 year resident of Routt County gives him an insider’s view of the legal system, in both the criminal and civil arenas. He has a wide range of experience and a solid understanding of the issues clients may be facing. David focuses his practice on criminal defense including DUI/DWAI, drug offenses, domestic violence, misdemeanor crimes, and felony offenses.
While not fluent in Spanish, David can communicate effectively and frequently represents clients who only speak Spanish (occasionally utilizing a translator).
